Hawaiian bobtail squid

This tiny squid is not longer than 3cm. Not easy to catch, isn'it it ? Especially as it can change its body coloration to really become invisible for its predators.

Magic ? No. A bioluminescent bacteria (Vibrio fisheri) - which means that it can produce light - live into its body. The Hawaiian bobtail squid provides nutrients to bacterias, and in exchange bacterias adapt the squid body coloration to the luminosity. This kind of relation is called symbiosis (relation good for both).

Invisible Man should be jealous !
